Micky van de Ven reveals Tottenham’s surprise ‘most skilful player’

Tottenham fans may think of the likes of Heung-min Son and James Maddison when asked to name the most skilful player at the club. However, Micky van de Ven has given that accolade to a 20-year-old, who has been on impressive form of late.

The current Tottenham squad does not have an abundance of attackers who are skilled at going past players in one-vs-one situations.

That is perhaps one of the reasons why the Lilywhites have struggled in the final third this season, with captain Heung-min Son no longer being the force he has been for much of his career.

That is why the return of Wilson Odobert has proved a huge boost for Ange Postecoglou’s men over recent weeks and a couple of the winger’s Tottenham teammates have made a big claim about the Frenchman.

Wilson Odobert named as most skilful player at Tottenham

Odobert has endured a frustrating first season at Spurs since his summer move from Burnley, having missed much of the campaign due to injury.

However, the Tottenham boss is a big fan of the winger, with Ange Postecoglou even claiming recently that there is more to come from Odobert.

Micky van de Ven is also seemingly a huge fan of the 20-year-old, naming him as the player who is most deserving of five-star skills on EAFS 25.

When asked which of his teammates deserves five-star skills, the Dutchman told Tottenham’s Instagram handle: “Wilson Odobert. Really quick with his feet, in training, one-versus-one you can see it – so I would say he would get the five-star skill moves.”

Mikey Moore also agreed with the centre-back, adding: “Wilson. He’s got the best skills in the team so I would go for him.”

Wilson Odobert embarrasses Man City star on international duty

The Spurs winger’s skills were in full display on Saturday as he helped France Under-21s overcome England 5-3.

Odobert picked up two assists with brilliant wide play, embarrassing Man City full-back Rico Lewis for one of those goals by turning him inside out.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that the former Burnley man is able to stay injury-free and deliver plenty of moments like that in a Spurs shirt in the months and years to come.
