Midfield pair previously linked with Spurs put Arsenal to the sword

It looked like Spurs might yet have a massive fight on their hands to finish in the top four after they suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to West Ham at home on Saturday.

However, Tottenham’s rivals have once again faltered as Manchester United and Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw while Arsenal were thrashed 3-0 by Leicester City.

Leicester City’s midfield pair James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, who have both been linked with a move to Spurs in the summer, had great games as Maddison’s cross was headed in by the Belgian to open the scoring for the Foxes in the match.

While Tielemans, who is currently on loan from Monaco is rated at €45 million (HLN), Maddison who is said to be Tottenham’s preferred replacement for Christian Eriksen (The Sunday Times), is likely to cost more after an impressive debut Premier League campaign.

Spurs Web’ Opinion:

Tottenham can do a lot worse than push for Maddison and Tielemans as both players are quite young and have proven that they are capable of coping with the quality and intensity of the Premier League.

In addition, the pair seem to have built great chemistry on the pitch, and thus both players would serve as valuable additions to the Spurs squad with Pochettino’s men short of central midfield players at present.
