Midfielder admits he is ‘not happy’ with his current situation at Tottenham

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has said that while he is not happy to be relegated to a bit-part role at Tottenham, he continues to work hard to show Ange Postecoglou that he deserves to play.

Hojbjerg was one of the first names in the Spurs teamsheet under the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte, but that has not been the case under Postecoglou.

Right from the start of the season, it was quite clear that the Australian preferred using the 28-year-old as an impact substitute rather than as a starter, with the former Southampton man struggling for minutes even when Rodrigo Bentancur was out injured.

Hojbjerg has started just six Premier League games so far this season but he did get a couple of starts under his belt during the international break for Denmark in their 0-0 draw against Switzerland and 2-0 win over Faroe Islands, with the Tottenham man scoring in the latter.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg wants more game time

After the win on Tuesday, the midfielder was asked about his lack of game time at Spurs and he told Tipsbladet: “Of course I’m not happy with what’s going on at the club. It’s not a secret, but it’s not something I make a fuss about either.

“I can put my head on the pillow knowing that I’m giving it my all to show the coach that he should believe in me. This is not the case at the moment, and it’s the coach who has to explain why.”

No player is happy when they are not starting games but Hojbjerg is an ultimate professional who is not the sort of character to moan and he continues to give 100 per cent every time he gets an opportunity.
