Midfielder Tyrese Hall’s performances would have undoubtedly caught the eye of the Spurs head coach, with the youngster being on fire at the start of the Premier League 2 campaign.
The centre midfielder has already scored three times and picked up three assists in the first three games for the U21s, with his best performance coming against Derby County on Friday.
According to Fotmob, Hall completed 88 per cent of his passes against Derby, created seven chances, and had one shot, which was on target. He also completed three out of four long balls, made one tackle, two recoveries and won two out of four ground duels.
That sort of all-round performance could potentially pave the way for the 21-year-old to make his senior bow at Anfield on Tuesday.
Spurs need to take the Carabao Cup seriously
With Tottenham having no European football this season, their supporters would want them to take the domestic cup competitions seriously.
The Carabao Cup is the easier of the two to win, and De Zerbi would also realise that progressing in the competition can be key to giving minutes to his squad players and keeping them happy.
Despite his statement on Saturday, one would not be surprised if the Italian puts out a relatively strong side at Anfield.
