Rodrigo Bentancur has praised Antonio Conte for the mentality he has instilled among the Tottenham players, remarking that he and his teammates never give up until the final whistle.
After an impressive start to the season, Spurs have had a downturn in form over the last month and a half but the Lilywhites have still shown amazing character to produce some memorable comebacks.
They came from behind to win against both Marseille and Bournemouth while also putting in impressive displays in the second halves against Newcastle United and Liverpool despite falling to defeats in both games.
Spurs showcased their powers of recovery once again on Saturday against Leeds United, with the away side taking the lead on three occasions only for Tottenham to draw level each time.
It was Bentancur’s late brace that ensured that the Lilywhites secured all three points and ended the first part of the season on a high.
The midfielder put the team’s attitude of fighting until the very end down to work that Conte and his coaching staff have put in.
Bentancur told Tuttosport: “The secret of this Tottenham? The mentality has changed: it is precisely on this aspect that Conte insisted, constantly hammering us.
“We must never give up, ever, until the referee whistles: we have learned the lesson perfectly and in fact several times this season we have achieved success in the last minutes of play, we have triumphed in 6 or 7 games scoring between 90th and 95th minute.
“As for me, I will continue to give 150% of my chances for the good of Tottenham, to help my teammates.”

Given that some results had gone against us over the last month, it would have been easy for the players to let their heads drop and crumble when they went a goal or two down on some occasions. However, the way they kept going until the final whistle in each game, shows the kind of character and belief they have in their game plan.
