Midfielder’s agent clarifies transfer rumours which involve Spurs

Porto midfielder Hector Herrera has arguably been the best midfielder in Portuguese football over the last five years.

The Mexican’s current contract with the Portuguese giants runs out at the end of the season and it doesn’t appear like he is keen to extend his stay at the club.

The 28-old’s future has thus been subject to a lot of speculation with several clubs reported to be interested in acquiring his services. Tottenham and Arsenal were among the teams that were claimed to be interested in signing the midfielder in the summer. (Source: calciomercato)

More recently it was claimed that Atlético Madrid are keen on Herrera with Diego Simeone said to be a big fan of the Porto captain. (Source: Football Espana)

Now Mexican publication, Record have spoken to Gabriel Moraes, Herrera’s agent who has rubbished all the speculations. Moraes said, “Last year he signed for Real Madrid. Last month, for Inter and Roma. A few weeks ago, he was going to Tottenham, Arsenal, and Galatasaray.

“Today it’s Atletico Madrid. There is nothing with anyone and it will not be decided anytime soon,”

This seems to suggest that Herrera’s future is still unresolved. With Spurs needing reinforcements in the central midfield area, they can do a lot worse than signing the experienced Mexican in the summer.
