Midfielder’s former manager says he would not be lost at Spurs or Arsenal

Aleksandr Golovin has been tipped for a move to either Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal in the future, and his former boss has claimed he is just as good as Martin Odegaard.

London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal are both flying high so far this season, with the two rivals sitting inside the top four as things stand going into the final international break of the year.

It’s likely both sides will fancy their chances of a title challenge this season, or at the very least will be confident of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.

To do so, it’s expected the two teams will look for reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Ange Postecoglous squad has been severely depleted of late by injuries and suspensions. Most notably, star man James Maddison is out until the New Year.

Spurs or Arsenal could sign Golovin

To counter this issue, the Lilywhites may want to look at signing Aleksandr Golovin from Monaco. That’s according to the player’s former manager, Leonid Slutsky.

He told Komment Live: “I can say for sure that, in the form which [Golovin] is in now, he would not get lost at Tottenham or Arsenal.”

Slutsky used to manage Golovin in the Russian national team, and also was the manager of Vitesse Arnhem when Martin Odegaard played there. Clearly, he sees some similarities in the two players.

“With all my love for Martin Odegaard, I can say that Golovin is no worse [than him] now,” Slutsky added.

Spurs Web Opinion

Aleksandr Golovin is a good player who would probably do very well in the Premier League. I just think that, at 27 years old, he doesn’t really fit the Tottenham profile we are looking at right now of generally signing younger players. So, I can’t personally see this one happening.
