Mihajlovic wanted to study Conte’s training sessions at Spurs before he passed, journalist recalls

Italian journalist Andrea Di Caro reflected on his final conversations with Sinisa Mihajlovic, who passed away a few days ago, revealing that the Serbian wanted to study Antonio Conte’s work at Tottenham.

Mihajlovic was a hard-tackling defender during his playing days and had a long and distinguished career in the Serie A, representing Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan.

After hanging up his playing boots, he went straight into coaching, first serving as an assistant coach at Inter, before going on to manage the likes of Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, AC Milan, Torino and Sporting Lisbon.

The 53-year-old, who also had a brief spell in charge of Serbia in 2012, returned to Bologna for a second time in 2019 and spent three and half years at the club before parting ways at the start of this campaign after a poor star.

News emerged on Friday that Mihajlovic had tragically passed after a long battle with leukaemia.

Di Caro has now revealed that the former Bologna boss told him about his desire to watch Conte’s training sessions at Spurs in the final phone call he had with the Serbian.

According to the journalist, Mihajlovic said (via Gazzetta dello Sport): “In January let’s do an interview, let’s go and watch a few games together. I’d like to go to Belgrade for a couple of days. Then maybe go to London to see Conte and watch the training sessions.”
