‘Mild symptoms’ – Conte on whether he will be able to attend Spurs vs Brighton

Antonio Conte has revealed that he thinks he will still be able to take up his position in the dugout this weekend against Brighton, despite testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

Football London reported that Conte tested positive over last weekend, but was still expected to return in time for the clash against Graham Potter’s side.

However, the Italian has had to keep a distance from the Spurs squad in training this week, as well as taking his press conference remotely in order to reduce the risk of passing the virus on.

Conte has now revealed that he noticed mild symptoms and asked to have a test following Tottenham’s last match against Aston Villa. However, he assured fans that he feels fine and thinks he will be at the Brighton match due to the length of time since that positive test.

Spurs come into the game in great form but will be aware that Brighton beat top-four rivals Arsenal last week and will likely pose a difficult challenge.

On his COVID situation, Conte said (Jonathan Veal): “I started to feel a bit of mild symptoms and I asked to have a Covid test and it was positive. But now I am fine. Given the length of time since my test I think I can stay on the bench.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is great news because Conte missing a game is the exact kind of thing that could damage momentum at a key stage of the season. Spurs need to keep racking up as many wins as they can over the next seven matches.
