Luka Modric is eagar to get back into action after beginning his return to fitness from a broken leg.

The Croatian playmaker played for 70 minutes in a behind closed doors friendly match against Grays Athletic on Monday.

Harry Redknapp monitored his progress in the match and with his return to the fray, Modric is hoping he’ll be back in the first team soon enough.

He told the Club Website, “I did not feel any pain and that is the most important thing.

“It is great to back and I am happy. It is a relief after three months.

“I can’t wait to play again. The last three months have been hard, but that’s behind me now.

“I will take it step by step and I’ll have to see now when the manager decides to put me back in the squad.”

Modric is also hopeful that Spurs can push on after a promising start and achieve a good finish.

“We have a great team, a great squad, lots of quality players and that is good for the club.

“We have plenty of options and that’s positive. I hope we can keep going.”
