Modric not taking Portsmouth for granted

Luka Modric has urged Tottenham to be at their very best for their Wembley encounter against Portsmouth on Sunday.

With a place in the FA Cup final awaiting the winner, Modric insists that Spurs are not taking Portsmouth for granted.

“This is a very big game for us,” Modric told the club’s official site. “If we win, we’re in the FA Cup Final and that’s what we want. That would be great for everyone at the club.

“But it’s not the case that we will just beat Portsmouth. We have to concentrate and play our best football to go through. We can’t relax on the pitch and think that we’ll win anyway, that’s not the way we need to think about this game.

“We have to be 100 per cent focused like we are for every game.

“I thought Portsmouth showed a lot spirit when we played at Tottenham. They played very well, especially in the early stages when they created chances but Gomes made some good saves.

“That is the warning if we think it will be easy. We know they can cause us problems if we don’t play well and if we’re not 100 per cent. We know we are favourites but we have to go out there and win.”
