Modric posts social media message after Zagreb’s win over Spurs

Luka Modric has taken to social media to congratulate Dinamo Zagreb after their historic comeback against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday evening.

Modric came through the ranks at Dinamo as a youngster and moved to Spurs in a deal worth £15.8m in the summer of 2008.

The midfielder went on to have four brilliant seasons for the club, playing a key part in the North Londoners qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in their history in 2009-10.

Modric was also influential in Spurs’ journey to the quarter-finals of the competition the subsequent season, making a name for himself as one of the best young midfielders in Europe.

He left Tottenham to join Real Madrid in 2012 and the Croatian international has certainly gone on to fulfil his potential at the Santiago Bernabeu, helping Los Blancos to many major honours and even winning the Ballon d’Or.

One would have thought Modric would have mixed allegiances when two of his former sides were drawn against each other in the Europa League round of 16.

However, it appears that the Real Madrid man’s allegiance still lies with his boyhood club as he took to Instagram to congratulate Zagreb on their win.
