Modric trains at San Siro

Luka Modric - Tottenham news

Tottenham will be without Gareth Bale for the Champions League clash at AC Milan after he failed to recover from a back injury, but there is better news on Rafael van der Vaart.

The Dutch star should play after he showed good signs of recovery from his calf injury but Peter Crouch is a doubt with a back injury that has required him to have an epidural injection.

Luka Modric (appendix) trained with the squad at the San Siro on Monday night but is unlikely to start and Jermaine Jenas is missing through suspension, meaning Sandro and Wilson Palacios are set to line up in central midfield.

Tottenham (from): Gomes, Pletikosa, Cudicini, Hutton, Corluka, Gallas, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Woodgate, Dawson, Sandro, Palacios, Lennon, Pienaar, Van der Vaart, Crouch, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe.

  1. So no Kranjcar then despite Redknapp saying he’ll start and praising him after the bolton and sunderland game. Something tells me the line up is all make believe. No way is Redknapp going to let us sit back and rely on the strikers to score goals. Also Crouch is supposed to worse off than Bale with his back. My guess of a line-up would be:

    Gomes

    Chorluka Gallas Dawson Ekotto

    Lennon Palacios Kranjcar Pienaar

    Van Der Vaart

    Defoe

Subs: Pav, Sandro, Woodgate, Cudicini, Hutton, Bassong, Modric

  2. Bale was on the plane!!! Whilst I’m not saying Bale will play, Kevin Bond claimed that Bale did not travel to Milan. I can tell you with 100% certainty that he travelled with the squad.

Has Harry got something up his sleeve? Who knows, just can’t see any reason for them to lie about Bale being there!!! Read into this what you like

    COYS

  3. I'm hoping to see Harry really go for it with:
    Gomes
    Corluka – Dawson – Gallas – BAE
Lennon – Sandro – Kranjcar- Pienaar
    VDV
    & 1 of Defoe

Bench: Pav, Palacios, Modders, Bassong, Hutton, Cudicini, Woodgate

Sandro looked good against Sunderland & Kranjcar has got to be used if Modders doesn't play.
    COYS!

  4. I’d have to choose hutton over corluka cos of huttons speed! Corluka will get beaten every time, so that would force lennon to come back to help out loosing that attacking option down the right wing!

    My preferred squad

    Gomes

    Hutton – dawson – gallas – ekotto

    Lennon – palicos – kranjcar – pienaar

    Vdv

    Defoe

    COYS!!

  5. I think Redknapp has 2 big decisions to make.

Corluka or Hutton at Right Back?

Corluka is better defensively but Milan struggle with Pace Hutton has that I personally would go with Corluka and then bring Hutton on if we need attacking help.

Sandro or Palacios in the middle?

We cant play both they were partnered together versus Charlton and Bolton and werent great, Id have Sandro but think HR will pick Palacios. I would stick Modric in no matter what and if not him I would play Pienaar in central midfield hes a busy player and can get around the pitch like Modric can

  6. I would play: Gomes, Corluka, Gallas, Dawson, Ekotto, Lennon, Sandro, Palacios, Pienaar, VDV, Crouch.
I would bring Modric on late on if needed. The key will be for Sandro and Palacios to control the midfield and Lennon to get at them with his pace, Crouch with his height.
Hopefully we dominate the game and come away with a one nil win. COYS
