Mohammed Kudus has said something very interesting about his role in Thomas Frank’s system at Tottenham.
The numbers suggest that Kudus has been among the best wingers across the Premier League this season, and the eye test certainly backs that up.
The winger has been the Lilywhites’ most productive attacking player, with five assists and a goal to his name in 10 league games so far.
In fact, some pundits have accused Spurs of being over-reliant on Mohammed Kudus in attack, which is perhaps partly down to the club’s injury situation and the poor form of their other attackers.

Mohammed Kudus says he has been given freedom to express himself at Tottenham
Some have accused Frank of not taking the handbrakes off and allowing his players to express themselves in attack.
However, Kudus has now insisted that from day one at Tottenham, his strengths have been backed and he has been allowed to use his attributes to cause maximum impact in the final third.
Kudus told The Premier League’s YouTube channel: “It means a lot to be in an environment where you are appreciated and understood by the players and the staff, able to get into the positions where you can use your best attributes to have an impact for the team, and I get that a lot here.
“I’m encouraged to keep going, even if I lose the ball, because they know once I beat the man and succeed, it’s either a chance, assist, or a goal. I really hold that in high regard because I’m not restricted from playing with a lot of freedom, and that’s how I understand the game as a player.”
Will Kudus be fit for the North London derby?
Many Spurs fans will feel that Tottenham’s hopes of getting a result at the Emirates depend on the former West Ham man being fit to take to the field.
Kudus pulled out of the Ghana squad after missing Spurs’ last two games against Copenhagen and Man United with a knock.
However, Thomas Frank said that Kudus was ‘touch and go’ to face Man United, which suggests that the 25-year-old should be fit and available for Tottenham’s trip to the Emirates.
