More clubs tipped to join Tottenham in three horse race for Antoine Semenyo

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has made a confident prediction about the future of Tottenham Hotspur target Antoine Semenyo.

Bournemouth are currently sitting joint-third in the Premier League table, and one of the main reasons for that is the Ghana international, who has six goals and three assists to his name so far.

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Spurs have moved to pole position in the race for Semenyo, and are looking to tie up a deal for the winger in January.

Some sources have suggested that Bouremouth want £80m for the Tottenham target, but it recently emerged that Semenyo has an undisclosed release clause in his contract.

Tottenham told if a January deal for Antoine Semenyo would be possible

Despite the existence of the release clause in the winger’s contract, Pete O’Rourke has claimed that the 25-year-old is not likely to leave the Vitality Stadium mid-season.

He suggested that Tottenham Hotspur would have to wait until next summer to sign the winger and asserted that Thomas Frank’s men will have no shortage of competition for the player.

When asked about Semenyo’s future, the journalist told Football Insider: “You will have Manchester United, who were interested in the summer, Tottenham are interested, Liverpool are now supposedly in that race for him as well.

“I’m sure there’ll be others who will join the chase for Antoine Semenyo, knowing that he has this release clause and Bournemouth will be powerless to keep him if someone does meet that release clause, but I don’t think anything will happen in January. If Semenyo continues to shine and impress for Bournemouth, there’ll be a number of clubs ready to make a move for Semenyo next summer.

“Bournemouth did a good job to tie him down to that new deal in the summer, but they’ve got that release clause in there as well, so, if any club wants to meet it they’re gonna have to make that price, and I’m sure it’s a hefty price tag within that release clause.”

Would Spurs test the waters for Semenyo in January?

The left-wing role has been a problem area for Tottenham this season, and that is something that Semenyo will solve.

Given it is now known that the winger has an undisclosed release clause, Spurs may be tempted to send a bid of around £70m to Bournemouth to see if the clause gets triggered.

With ENIC recently pumping £100m into Tottenham, the North London club may have the financial muscle to put together a big offer for the Cherries star.
