Peterborough United chairman, Darragh MacAnthony has told The Hard Truth podcast that the likes of Tottenham Hotspur made a big mistake by not signing up Ivan Toney.
After a prolific season in League One with the Posh, Toney completed a move to Brentford in the summer for a fee of around £5m (Sky Sports).
The striker has hit the ground running at the Brentford Community Stadium, having scored seven goals already in his first six league games (tranfermarkt.com).
MacAnthony has backed the 24-year-old to fire Thomas Frank’s side to the Championship title this season.
He also confidently asserted that Toney was good enough to play in the Premier League and admitted that he could not understand why some teams did not snap him up.
The Peterborough chairman claimed that the striker could have even been the ideal back up for Harry Kane at Spurs.
Speaking to the Hard Truth podcast, he said about Toney’s move: “Every Prem team who are out there who could have bought him and didn’t buy him, you are morons.

“Brentford will probably will win the league and if they don’t they’ll sell Ivan for £30 or £40 million.
“He’s ready for the Premier League now, those teams hang your head in shame, particularly the teams who went up, particularly the teams in the bottom ten.
“I always said he would have been [good] even for Spurs as a back-up. But he’s doing fantastic, good for him.”
