‘Most difficult’ – Journalist expects Spurs to miss out on 25-year-old this summer

Journalist Dean Jones believes that Tottenham Hotspur are going to fail in their pursuit of Ebereche Eze, suggesting that the attacking midfielder will stay put at Selhurst Park for one more season.

While Eze had had another injury-hit season, the midfielder has been sensational for the Eagles when he has played and he is unsurprisingly now being backed to make a big move this summer.

Last month, Football Transfers explained that Tottenham were ready to step up their pursuit of the player ahead of the summer transfer window, suggesting that Spurs have an advantage over Man City in the race since the Palace star would prefer to remain in London.

However, over the past few days, several outlets have suggested that the Eagles will fight to keep hold of the England international this summer.

This includes a recent update by Football Insider, who stated that it would take a mammoth offer of around £70m to get Eze out of Selhurst Park this summer.

Spurs will find it difficult to sign Eberechi Eze

Jones is not confident that Ange Postecoglou’s men would be able to pull off the deal this summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Spurs are being linked with Eberechi Eze but, while there is definitely a level of interest there, I’m not convinced it will get very far along the road to being done. A large reason for that is that I think Eze will probably stay at Palace for next season.

“Of course, that is easy to say at the moment, when there are no firm offers on the table, but I just get the impression from people around the club that he is going to be the most difficult player to sign this summer, out of their star names.”

I cannot see Palace letting go of both Eze and Michael Olise this summer. So if they were to cash in on Olise, that likely means that it would be very very hard for Spurs to get Eze out of the South London club.

The Lilywhites might perhaps have to rely on the 25-year-old agitating for a move but there is no indication that he is going to do that this summer.
