Most people didn’t notice what Lamela did to save Spurs against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur wasted a prime chance to reduce the gap between themselves and the League leaders to just two on Saturday as they took on Burnley.

Spurs didn’t look anything close to the team that beat Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at Wembley, and were outplayed and out muscled by Sean Dyche’s side.

As a result, Tottenham dropped back to six points behind Liverpool, and with a significantly inferior goal difference, that leaves the North London side with a mountain to climb.

However, Spurs must still push to secure third spot at the very least, with key matches coming up against Chelsea and Arsenal. Two losses could see Tottenham pulled back into a top four brawl.

Despite returning against Burnley, it is highly unlikely that Harry Kane will start against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Dortmund in the next week, meaning Fernando Llorente could be key.

However, the Spanish striker was nearly sent off against Burnley at the weekend, after being booked for an aerial challenge before even touching the ball.

A few moments later, he was called up for the same exact thing, but luckily his pal Erik Lamela was on the scene to jump in and shout at Mike Dean, taking the heat of Llorente despite Lamela picking up a yellow himself.

A suspended Llorente may have caused problems with two upcoming London derbies.
