Moura jokes about Vinicius celebration after scoring first PL goal

Lucas Moura has joked that Carlos Vinicius almost broke his hand when he slammed the post in excitement after netting his first Premier League goal at Villa Park yesterday.

Tottenham went into the game on the back of an extremely difficult week in which they were turned over in the North London derby and were sent packing from Europe in embarrassing fashion by Dinamo Zagreb.

Jose Mourinho’s men needed a response and the Spurs boss was not hesitant to ring the changes.

Vinicius was one of the surprise inclusions in the starting line up, with the Brazilian handed just his second start in the Premier League since arriving from Benfica in the summer.

The 26-year-old worked his socks off both on and off the ball and got his reward as a lovely one-two between Moura and Harry Kane ended with the former Paris Saint-Germain star squaring the ball for Vinicius to tap it into an empty net.

It was clear from the striker’s celebration that the goal meant a lot to him. Here’s what Moura tweeted about his compatriot’s celebration:

While Vinicius’ touch on occasions yesterday was rusty, he did provide a physical presence up front and occupied the Villa centre-backs which afforded Kane more space to play.

The Brazilian has always worked tirelessly for the team whenever he has been handed opportunities and he will improve the more he gets used to the intensity of the league.
