Mourinho admits he does not know exactly how long injured Spurs star is out for

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has provided an update on Danny Rose’s fitness ahead of this afternoon’s game against Southampton.

The England international has missed the last two games with injury meaning that Jan Vertonghen has had to fill in at left back.

While the Belgian has performed well against Brighton, he had a difficult evening against Norwich City.

With Ben Davies still sidelined with ankle ligament damage, it appears that Mourinho has little choice but to once again play Vertonghen at left back at St Mary’s Stadium.

The 56-year-old has now revealed that he guesses that Rose to be out for at least a couple of more weeks. He also confirmed that none of the other injured players were back in action in time for the game.

When asked if Rose will be available against the Saints, Mourinho told Football.London: “No. I don’t know (how long he will be out for). I would guess, but maybe I am wrong, a couple of weeks. But honestly, I cannot tell you.

“We have Winks and Sissoko back from suspension and I don’t think we are going to have anyone back from injuries.”

I feel there is a good chance that Rose might have already played his last game for the club. It is no secret that the club wanted to get rid of him in the summer and if they receive a bid for him next month, I expect them to accept it. However, it’s anybody’s guess whether Rose would accept a move away and potentially a wage cut.
