Mourinho admits international break has been ‘crucial’ for 24-year-old Spurs star

Jose Mourinho has admitted that the international break has proved crucial to Giovani Lo Celso for regaining his fitness, Alasdair Gold has revealed.

Lo Celso has picked up multiple injuries this season which have prevented him from having a consistent run in the side.

The hamstring injury that the Argentine suffered in December kept him out of action for three months but the midfielder returned to the side ahead of the international break.

Lo Celso started for Spurs alongside Tanguy Ndombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield during their 2-0 win at Villa Park two weeks ago.

It is a trio that Spurs fans will be looking forward to seeing play together more often if the former Real Betis man remains fit for the final run-in.

Mourinho admitted that the two-week break was useful for Lo Celso to get back his sharpness and return to the level of form he showed prior to the injury.

Here’s what Gold tweeted following the Spurs boss’ comments about Lo Celso:

A midfield three of Lo Celso, Ndombele and Hojbjerg is as good as any in the league when all three players are fit and firing. Let’s hope that the Argentine has put his injury problems behind him and can have a strong end to the season.
