Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was not too enthused about the idea of having Amazon’s cameras filming his work at Tottenham last season, admitting that he had conveyed his objections to the club’s hierarchy.
Amazon’s fly-on-the-wall documentary gave fans a peek into what went on behind the scenes at Spurs during the 2019/20 season, which ended up being quite a tumultuous campaign.
Unsurprisingly, Mourinho proved to be the star of the nine-episode series, leading some to joke that perhaps Daniel Levy had appointed the Portuguese coach just to make the documentary more entertaining.
When he previously spoke about the series last summer, Mourinho admitted that while he was not entirely comfortable with the idea of having cameras inside the dressing room, the documentary would give fans an insight into what goes on at clubs.
Speaking about the Amazon series in an interview with comedian James Corden (for The Sun), the newly appointed Roma boss has now said that he did convey his reservations about the endeavour to Tottenham.
When asked whether it was included in his contract that he had to be part of the documentary, Mourinho said: “Yes I was informed about it. I gave them my opinion.
“It would disturb the work we were doing but it would be a good thing for the club.”

When Corden then asked Mourinho if he knew whether having the cameras around was an issue for his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino, he responded: “No not at all.
“It was something that was done and it is not even for me to ask why or how.
“The positives were more important. And that it is.”
