Mourinho denies that Spurs need a big rebuild in the summer after frustrating season

Tottenham Hotspur have been knocked out of yet another competition this season as RB Leipzig put them to the sword in Germany last night in the Champions League.

With FA Cup and League Cup exits in Tottenham’s past this season, they are now left to fight for a top-four place in the Premier League without any silverware on the line.

Spurs have been without Harry Kane, Heung-min Son, and Moussa Sissoko for some time now. Kane and Sissoko required surgery after injuries sustained on New Years Day, while Son has been out for weeks with a fractured arm.

Jose Mourinho has now claimed that he does not think the squad needs a big summer rebuild at the end of the season, implying that the returning players will be a boost.

On a summer rebuild, Mourinho said (BT Sport – 10/03/20 – 20:00 onwards – as quoted by BBC): “I don’t think so. This summer, unless something happens during the holidays or the Euros, when we start we will have Sissoko, Kane, Son, Bergwijn and Ben Davies so that is massive.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is a silly opinion from Jose. Those returning players will not be enough. They have not been enough for five years now, so what will change? Harry Kane and Heung-min Son will not solve the woeful defence. Spurs need to cut out the deadwood this summer and reinvest that cash and more in a new centre-back, striker, central midfielder, and full-backs.
