Mourinho reacts to Dele frustration on the bench and implies that he had a poor game

It was a frustrating night for Tottenham Hotspur fans everywhere yesterday as their side fell to a 1-0 loss at home to RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

This match was the first of a double-header, with the German side taking an away goal advantage into the home leg in three weeks.

Spurs will have to perform another Champions League comeback is they hope to progress into the quarter-finals again this season.

There were positives to take from the match in terms of individual performances, but Spurs lacked a real focal point to their attack with Son and Kane both injured.

Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, and Dele Alli acted as makeshift strikers throughout the match, although the latter was taken off around the hour mark.

Mourinho put on Ndombele and Lamela, which vastly improved the overall Spurs performance, although left Dele extremely frustrated on the bench.

Mourinho commented on Dele’s reaction to being subbed in his post-match press conference, implying that the midfielder didn’t have his best game.

He said (Football London): “I think he was angry with his performance. Not with me. I think he understands why I took him off and the team improved.”
