Mourinho gives insight into his chat with David Beckham after visit to Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur had a rather distinguished guest this week at Hotspur Way as David Beckham made an appearance.

Beckham actually spent a portion of his youth career with Spurs, with the England legend playing as a youngster between 1987 and 1991 before joining Brimsdown Rovers and eventually Man United (Wikipedia).

Some may also remember that Beckham paid Tottenham a visit back in 2011, when he spent a period training with the first-team in North London. However, Beckham didn’t actually represent Tottenham on the pitch (Guardian).

Beckham appeared on the Instagram accounts of both Harry Winks and Heung Min Son this week, as the Spurs stars posed for photos with the ex-United man.

Jose Mourinho has now revealed that he was only able to have a short chat with Becks, but claimed that he is a great guy.

He also revealed that he invited Beckham to go out on the pitch and play with the boys, but he claimed he had forgotten his boots.

Mourinho said (Football London): “Yeah. We had a little chance, not much because yesterday was one more day dedicated to Mr Simon [Felstein – Spurs press officer]. I had to do three hours of (press officer interjects with ‘it was 45 minutes by the way’) international interviews. But yes David is a great guy and even for the boys, it’s very good to be with him. I invited him to go to the pitch but he forgot his boots.”

On Beckham’s reaction to his haircut, Jose added: “Mine? He had it already. Same as me.”
