Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho, has now revealed that Kyle Walker-Peters may have a future at the club in North London.
Walker-Peters is currently on loan at Southampton in the Premier League, despite the fact that it left Mourinho with just one natural right-back in Serge Aurier.
The young full-back put in a superb performance in the Saints’ recent 1-0 win over Manchester City, earning rave reviews from a selection of fans.
However, Mourinho added in his pre-match press conference today that Walker-Peters would be allowed to leave the club in the summer window if that is what the player wants.
Walker-Peters has been linked with a permanent move to Southampton, with some reports claiming that Spurs may look to use him in a swap deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Football Insider).
However, Mourinho claims that Daniel Levy is a big fan of the academy graduate as he has been at Tottenham since he was very young.
Football London also report that Mourinho added: “We let him go because we think he has the right to be happy. He’s happy now I think. He’s playing and playing well. I’m not in control of the transfer decisions but the general feeling is there’s a place for him here. But if his desire is to leave the club in search of happiness I don’t think we’d stop him. He’s a player with a good value in the market but I don’t think we’d stop him doing it.”
