Mourinho hoping Spurs star will declare himself fit against Norwich

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has admitted that he could do with Tanguy Ndombele being available for the clash against Norwich City on tomorrow evening.

Both Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season in their 2-1 win over Brighton on Thursday which means they will be suspended for the clash against Norwich.

Mourinho admitted after the game against Brighton that Ndombele told him that he feared he might pick up an injury if he played against the Seagulls. (Football.London).

When asked if he was disappointed in the French international’s statement, Mourinho insisted that Ndombele was just being honest.

The Spurs boss admitted however that it would be good to have him back for the trip to Carrow Road given his limited selection options.

Speaking to Football.London ahead of the clash against Norwich, Mourinho said: “I think Ndombele was honest [in his admission]. Football players like to play football. For him to say I don’t feel confident, I don’t feel in the best condition due to my previous injuries, he was just being honest.

“But today [Thursday vs Brighton] we had solutions. We had [Eric] Dier, we had [Harry] Winks, we have [Oliver] Skipp who is a great kid fighting to improve, for a place.

“Today we had solutions, against Norwich less solutions. But let’s see. I hope tomorrow morning [Friday] after training he can come back to me and say I’m ready to help the team.”

Ndombele’s injury problems are starting to look like a major concern. He seems incapable of playing 90 minutes and seems to be breaking down fairly regularly. Let’s hope it’s not anything to worry about and that he will be fine once his body gets used to the pace and intensity of the Premier League.
