Tottenham have certainly enjoyed a successful summer transfer window this year, introducing a number of new faces to the squad at Hotspur Way.
Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho managed to bring in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Alfie Devine, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Carlos Vinicius, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon and Joe Rodon.
The Lilywhites also managed to offload Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton in their only major sale of the summer window.
Not only this, but they also secured good loan moves for Oliver Skipp, Troy Parrott, Ryan Sessegnon, and Juan Foyth, while retaining talent like Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier to promote squad depth over drumming up funds.
It appears that the level of business completed in the summer window surprised even Mourinho, who revealed yesterdayu that he got more than he was expecting.
The Spurs head coach had plenty of praise for the board this summer, while branding Daniel Levy a genius for going after what he wants and making deals happen.
Mourinho said (Jonathan Veal): “More than I was expecting. We were talking about different targets but I never thought we would go so far as we did, but I can only praise what the board did for the team.”
He added (Jonathan Veal): “Mr Levy showed once more that when he wants and when he is really involved he is a genius in the way he makes deals happen.”
