Mourinho makes admission about Eriksen’s future

On the back of Christian Eriksen’s fantastic display in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Norwich City at Carrow Road, Jose Mourinho has spoken yet again about the midfielder’s future.

The Dane started in central midfield alongside Tanguy Ndombele and while the pair struggled to get into the game in the first half, they pretty much dictated the game after the interval.

Eriksen, in particular, seemed to be back to his creative best as he was the architect of several of Tottenham’s good moves in the second half. He capped off the performance with a fantastic free-kick from the edge of the box.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Spurs runs out at the end of the current campaign and the Spurs head coach reiterated that he will not make the details of his conversation with the Danish international public.

Revealing his delight at Eriksen’s performance against Norwich, Mourinho told the Metro: “I don’t want to speak about it, because I speak with him, we are so open with each other because we trust each other in the sense that we keep to ourselves,’

“Obviously I share with my boss, Christian knows that, every conversation we have I have to share with my boss, but it’s just between us, so I don’t want to say much.

“The only thing I can say is that he is trying to help the team like he did today, I’m happy with his Man of the Match. I think Christian was very good.”

A lot of the stick that Eriksen was getting earlier in the season was merited as his performances were lacking in both effort and quality. However, the Dane has stepped up to the plate in the last few games and has put in some good performances. Despite the improvement in his form, I’m still not convinced that he is going to sing a new contract with the club.
