‘Mourinho needs to make choices’ – Michel Vorm opens up on Dele Alli situation

Michel Vorm has admitted that Dele Alli is going through a difficult spell at the moment and added that it is going to be hard for him to get back into the team.

Alli had been a mainstay in the Tottenham side since arriving from MK Dons back in the summer of 2015 and was one of the Spurs stars who seemed to have an immediate uptick in form after Jose Mourinho arrived at the club last November.

However, the midfielder has not started a single Premier League match since Tottenham’s opening day defeat to Everton and has missed out on the matchday squad on several occasions (transfermarkt.com).

While Alli has been handed a few minutes in the Europa League, Vorm claimed that it would be difficult for the England international to make an impression when his opportunities are so limited.

However, he also admitted that Jose Mourinho is spoilt for choice in midfield, which makes it harder for his former teammate to get back in.

The recently departed goalkeeper told talkSPORT (9:12am, November 20, 2020): “It’s a difficult one. Dele showed that he is an amazing player, but sometimes you have a difficult time, a difficult spell.

“The thing is now it is very competitive up front and in midfield, so he needs to make choices.

“The times that he gets a chance, it’s difficult for Dele to get in the team. You can see he doesn’t have the time to convince the manager at this point, but everyone knows that he has still got the quality but Mourinho needs to make choices, you know, and the choices are now much more than before, so that makes it even harder for Dele to get into the team.”
