Mourinho on how strong a team he is going to pick in Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur may have lost back-to-back games against Everton and Man City but they must now look forward to a different kind of match this mid-week.

The Lilywhites face the first leg of their knockout tie against Wolfsberger in the Europa League Round of 32 stage. The match kicks off at 17:55 UK time on Thursday evening.

Wolfsberger are currently sixth in the Austrian Bundesliga, while Spurs are ninth in the Premier League table after some woeful recent form.

Tottenham went to extra-time against Everton last week before taking on Man City in a tough match at the Etihad on Saturday, meaning there are plenty of minutes in the Spurs legs at the moment.

Mourinho revealed that members of his squad ran over 28 kilometres in both games last week, something he described as ‘crazy’.

Therefore, the Spurs head coach claimed that he would play the strongest possible team for this game in question, hinting that some players are too fatigued to start.

He said (Alasdair Gold): “The team that I’m going to pick is the strongest I can pick for the game. Last week we played two games in a very short space and I had players who ran more than 28km and 28km on a Wed night at Goodison Park and then Sat afternoon is crazy.”
