Mourinho provides fitness news on Sergio Reguilon and general injury update

Jose Mourinho has now revealed that Sergio Reguilon is back in training after the left-back missed the match against Ludogorets in the Europa League. He also added that there are no fresh injuries within the squad.

It was reported that the Spanish defender was suffering from illness, which is why he missed the flight to Bulgaria on Thursday night.

However, Mourinho claimed that Reguilon trained on Thursday, giving him the potential of three days with the first-team before Tottenham’s next game.

The Lilywhites face off against West Brom away from home on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their fine start to the new Premier League campaign.

Reguilon has appeared seven times for Tottenham since signing from Real Madrid in the summer and already has three assists to his name in that time (TransferMarkt).

With Ben Davies as the only other senior left-back in the first team (Ryan Sessegnon out on loan and Danny Rose in the U23 side today), Mourinho will be glad to have options back at his disposal.

Mourinho said (Football London): “If I’m not wrong, United or Ole were also complaining about playing Saturday early kick-off after a match yesterday in Turkey.

“It’s something that happens for many years in the Premier League, where the clubs involved in European competitions are not protected, but we get big salaries and of course the broadcasters have big responsibility for the big salaries we all get.

“So they have the right to choose but if they could be a little bit more careful about the English teams in Europe, it would be good. In other countries, they do that, but that’s the way it is.

“The good thing is I don’t think we have injuries from the match today and Reguilon trained [on Thursday] morning at the training ground so normally [Friday] he will be fine.”
