Mourinho provides update on how Lo Celso is looking in training

Jose Mourinho revealed today that Giovani Lo Celso was back in first-team training ahead of the Europa League Round of 16 second leg against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.

Spurs go into the tie 2-0 up thanks to some clinical finishing from Harry Kane last week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While Tottenham fans will certainly be hoping to see their side progress into the quarter-finals above all else, many will also be wanting to spot Lo Celso taking to the pitch again.

The Argentine has only played 11 Premier League games this season due to injury and was last seen in the 2-0 loss to Leicester City all the way back in December 2020 (TransferMarkt).

However, in his pre-match press conference, Mourinho claimed that Lo Celso looked very confident in his three training sessions with the first team since returning.

He added that the midfielder does not yet have 90 minutes in him but claimed that Spurs need him and his ability to scare people.

Mourinho said (Football London): “Very talented player with very competitive qualities.

“I don’t think he has 90 minutes in his legs but he’s looked very confident in these three training sessions with the team.

“I think the team needs him and he is very competitive. I think even for some other players he will help some, he will scare others and I think we need that.”
