Mourinho reacts to Danny Ings rumours and reveals whether Spurs need third striker

There is no disputing that Harry Kane is the number one striker at Tottenham, however, Jose Mourinho has now revealed that he sees Son as a striker too.

The Lilywhites decided to sign Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica in the summer transfer window in order to provide greater support to Kane in North London.

During the 2019/20 season, Kane was the only senior striker left at the club after both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente left in the summer of 2019.

Asked whether Tottenham needed a third striker option in the squad, Mourinho claimed that Son currently served as a third striker behind Kane and Vinicius.

The Special One was also keen to add that Vinicius is not currently a Tottenham player as he is on loan, but they are looking to develop him over the season.

After being linked with Danny Ings this week, the Tottenham head coach was also asked about a potential transfer, which Mourinho quickly shut down.

He said (Alasdair Gold): “We are not a team that needs a third striker because the third striker is Sonny. We have the best.

“We’re happy with Carlos. Carlos not our player, but a player we’re looking to develop.

“Ings I refuse totally to say any word about him because he’s a Southampton player.”
