‘Wait a little bit more’ – Mourinho on Carlos Vinicius transfer talk

Tottenham Hotspur may have won 7-2 last night in the Europa League against Maccabi Haifa, but Jose Mourinho was predictably asked about Carlos Vinicius in his press conference.

Reports had revealed in the past 24 hours that Tottenham have agreed a loan deal with Benfica to bring Vinicius to North London for the next year (Sky Sports).

Benfica announced late last night they had agreed to a season-long loan for the 25-year-old to move to North London which includes an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Up until this point, Spurs had been coping with just one senior striker in the form of Harry Kane, with young Troy Parrott having been loaned out to Millwall for the season.

With the transfer window slamming shut on October 5, Mourinho has been very active in the transfer market by bolstering a number of positions including goalkeeper, left-back, centre midfield and out wide.

However, Mourinho, as always, refused to confirm or deny the rumours when asked about the player.

He said (Alasdair Gold): “I want you to ask me that question when it’s confirmed. Nobody told me it’s done so I’m going to respect the situation, respect the player, respect Benfica and wait a little bit more. Next time we see each other maybe I’m in conditions to answer.”
