Mourinho reportedly a fan of 28-year-old midfielder

Jose Mourinho is reportedly an admirer of RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg, having wanted to sign him for Manchester United in 2017.

Fosberg came off the bench to help Leipzig see out their lead last Wednesday as they emerged 1-0 winners over Spurs in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.

After the game, the Spurs boss was quite envious of the options Leipzig had on the bench and in doing so, he namechecked and praised two of the Bundesliga side’s players, including Swedish midfielder Emil Forsberg (Goal.com).

In response to Mourinho’s comments, Fosberg’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya said he wasn’t surprised by the Portuguese coach’s words and hinted that Swedish international could be on the move from Leipzig soon (Expressen).

Mourinho has previously courted the player with German publication Bild reporting in 2017 that Mourinho personally scouted the 28-year-old midfielder when he was Manchester United boss and was said to be keen on bringing him to Old Trafford.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I like Fosberg as a player and think he can be a fantastic option to have in the squad, I am not sure this is the kind of signing we need to prioritise in the summer. Addressing our issues at the back and signing a striker have to take precedence over any move for attacking midfielders or wingers.
