Mourinho responds to claims from Son that he is always joking and smiling

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, has been in high spirits since he joined the North London club last month following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.

The Special One certainly has good reason to smile too, as he has helped the Lilywhites towards four wins out of his five games in charge.

The only downside came against his old club Manchester United, as Spurs failed to ever get going in the match, although losing 2-1 at Old Trafford is hardly an embarrassment.

Beyond that, Spurs have defeated West Ham 3-2, Olympiacos 4-2, Bournemouth 3-2, and Burnley 5-0 under Jose Mourinho, scoring 15 goals in the process.

It appears that the new manager is also all smiles in training, as one journalist claimed that Heung Min Son had revealed Mourinho always makes jokes and smiles in sessions.

Mourinho assured that he is the same wherever he goes, although he enjoys working with the Spurs lads very much already.

He said (Football London): “First of all, I’m the same guy in every one of my jobs. I’m the same person. I can be happy or less happier. That’s normal. I can love the players more or less or the club more or less, the structure around me more or less, but I am the same.

“So I don’t think there are many differences in me, maybe the differences are the players and the club. The players are guys I enjoy working with very much. I feel they are very coachable. I feel them in need of my experience, in need of my support and I enjoy it very, very much, because I always say a player who is not coachable or doesn’t like to be coached, you lose the concept of the team. You lose it.

“I arrive mid-season without pre-season, without four five six weeks to work and to know the players and develop the team, so we have to do everything while we are running. We don’t stop and we have to do a bit of everything at the same time.

“So it’s very important for me that the players are coachable and open and the club has a structure to help me in every area. I’m very happy. I keep saying that and even the bad result against Manchester United and a performance that was not good didn’t make me change my approach. I think the boys need me and my job is to try to help them. It’s not about me. People speak about Jose Mourinho updated, this version and that. It’s not me, it’s them. I’m just here to try to support them.”
