Mourinho responds to rumours Gedson Fernandes may join Torino on loan

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho revealed that he did not know whether Gedson Fernandes was set to join Torino on loan in the near future as the Lilywhites only have dialogue with his parent club, Benfica.

Spurs signed Gedson in January 2019 on an 18-month loan deal with an option to buy the midfielder for £42.76m in the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports).

However, such a big-money move has seemed unlikely for some time now, with Fernandes struggling for minutes in North London under Mourinho.

The midfielder has only featured twice for Tottenham this season, for 63 minutes against Chelsea in the League Cup and for 90 minutes against Marine FC in the FA Cup.

The Portuguese starlet has only made three matchday squads for the Premier League all season, an unused substitute in all three (TransferMarkt).

Tutto Mercato reported today that Gedson was set to be recalled by Benfica in the ‘next few hours’ and sent out on loan to Torino.

However, Mourinho told the press that he had no knowledge of any interest from Torino. Although he did not rule out a recall for Gedson.
