Mourinho reveals his ‘love’ for this ‘chaotic’ Spurs man who may start vs Man City

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he loves a good Lamela in his Tottenham side as he always wants to take responsibility and play.

The Argentine has started the last two games in a Spurs shirt against West Brom and Everton in the Premier League and FA Cup respectively.

Lamela played in a dovetailing role with Lucas Moura, swapping between number ten and right midfield throughout both games.

Spurs have been without a top form Giovani Lo Celso or Dele Alli in the side this season and Lamela seems to represent the positive creator that Mourinho has been missing.

The Spurs head coach revealed that, even though Lamela played the vast majority of the minutes against West Brom and Everton, he would ask the midfielder whether he can start against Man City (Dan Kilpatrick).

Mourinho also described Lamela as ‘a little bit chaotic’ in his style, which certainly matches his desire to constantly win the ball, press high up the pitch and force goalscoring opportunities.

Jose said (Football London): “I think you touch a point and I just want to confirm, a good Lamela I love. You are right. He is the kind of player that I like very much.

“The first thing I like about him is he wants to play. He wants to assume responsibility. He never hides. He wants the ball.

“He’s a little bit sometimes chaotic, but it’s a positive reason to be chaotic because it’s ‘I want to play, I want the ball, if the ball is not arriving to me I have to arrive to the ball’.

“I love Coco. Of course, when I arrived, his history of injuries was incredibly negative. Was very, very, very hard. That’s the truth.

“In this moment he’s fit, but of course a player with his history, he played 90 minutes against West Brom I think.

“Even more now, so let’s see, but honestly I’m going to ask him ‘can you play again from the start’ because if he feels he can of course I’m going to play him.”
