Mourinho reveals how he and Levy share the same views over transfers

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has insisted that he and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy are on the same page regarding what the club has to do in the January transfer window.

While Mourinho enjoyed a great start to his Spurs career, poor results in recent weeks have raised question marks about the squad. The club have been linked with a whole host of players in the past several weeks.

The 56-year-old insisted that he and Levy both want the best for the club and insisted that they were planning for the long-term.

The Spurs boss is quoted by Four Four Two as saying, “That was very clear for me [being on the same page as Levy] and is very important for me to understand that before I come.

“That’s very simple but in the end what I want is the same as everyone in the club wants.

“It is not I want something and Mr Levy wants another thing. We want the best for the club. That’s obvious and this is not our last transfer window.

“This is our first transfer window, not the last. We are going to have one in the summer, we are going to have one in 2021 January, we are going to have another one in the summer of 2021.

“So this is not our last transfer window. We are going to have to try to be intelligent and we have to try to make the right decisions, not just for now, but for the development of a cycle.”

After repeatedly reiterating previously that he was happy with the squad at his disposal (Sky Sports), the Portuguese manager finally admitted that the club will be looking to bring in new players in January.

However, he insisted that the club will not be making any panic moves and instead look to bring in players for the future.

When asked about potential activity this month, Mourinho said, “There is not one manager in the world that is not always looking for more. We always want more.

“You have three goalkeepers, you want four. You have five strikers, you want six. That’s our nature.

“But of course I understand the situation and let’s see what we can do and we have to see if we do something, it’s something that we do not under pressure, it is something that we do also for the future.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no way that Daniel Levy and Mourinho would have come to an agreement without having clearly discussed the funds that will be available in January as well as the next few transfer windows. This is why I am confident that we will be fairly active in buying and selling players this month.
