Mourinho reveals how long Toby Alderweireld could be out injured and it’s bad news

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho has reportedly told the press that Toby Alderweireld could be a long-term injury for the Lilywhites after coming off against Man City this evening.

Alderweireld lined up alongside Eric Dier in a central two against Pep Guardiola and his star-studded attack at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, it was the Spurs duo who came out on top in the North London battle, seeing out a clean sheet against their potential title rivals.

The experienced Belgian centre-back hit the deck deep into the second half while Spurs were already 2-0 to the good. While Man City continued their attack, Alderweireld attempted to haul himself back to his feet but quickly dropped again, holding his groin.

The Spurs star came into the match off the back of heavy involvement with Belgium in the recent international break.

He was swiftly replaced by new signing Joe Rodon, who played out the final ten minutes or so and Mourinho has now given a bleak outlook on the injury (Charlie Eccleshare).
