Mourinho reveals this youngster is future Spurs captain but wants 6-month loan away

Tottenham Hotspur announced a new contract for Oliver Skipp today as the academy graduate put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him in North London until 2024.

Unsurprisingly, Jose Mourinho was asked about the teenager in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester City game this weekend (Alasdair Gold).

The Special One certainly had some kind words to say about Skipp, claiming that the youngster is a future captain of Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho also revealed that Skipp has asked if he can be loaned out for six months next season in order to gain more regular experience.

The Spurs boss reportedly agreed that this may be the best option for his player, while reiterating that Skipp remains Tottenham’s future.

Skipp broke into the Spurs first-team in the 2018/19 season under Pochettino, featuring 12 times for the Lilywhites. This season, he has managed just nine games under Poch and Mourinho combined, hence the need for more first-team football (Wikipedia).
