Mourinho reveals what ‘disturbs’ and ‘destroys me a little on the inside’ about Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur fell to a woeful defeat against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Thursday night as fans watched their hopes of a top-five challenge evaporate.

The Blades went one up on the half-hour mark before Tottenham’s instant equaliser was controversially ruled out for a handball on Lucas Moura.

Chris Wilder’s side soaked up the Spurs pressure in the second half and hit the Lilywhites on the counter time and time again, eventually extending their lead to three.

While Spurs managed to get a consolation goal in the final minutes through Harry Kane, it was an embarrassing defeat for a side who played in the Champions League Final last year.

Jose Mourinho has now revealed that he was left concerned by the desire seen in his Tottenham players against the Blades.

The Special One claimed that it was disturbing to see Sheffield United put in more effort than his players on the night.

In his pre-match press conference for the upcoming Everton game, Mourinho said (Football London): “Desire point of view they put more in than us. That disturbs me. That destroys me a little bit on the inside because the last thing in football is when you feel you should do more. It’s not a problem for me to lose because of a goalkeeper mistake or striker missed two goals or mistakes. It’s a problem for me when I feel we could do more.”
