Mourinho reveals whether Spurs will go on a warm-weather training camp

Tottenham Hotspur may be in the midst of fixture congestion, but they will soon be handed a welcomed break from Premier League action in February.

This comes as the Premier League have rolled in a winter break for the first time in order to give domestic players a much-needed mid-season rest.

The winter break is set to take place between February 8 and February 22, which begs the question, what are Tottenham’s plans between these dates?

Back in March 2019, with a fixture break on their hands, Pochettino’s Tottenham decided to fly out to Barcelona for a warm-weather training camp. Not only can these camps improve fitness, but they can also boost morale.

However, Mourinho has already shut down talk of such a move this season, instead claiming that players will be given some time off before returning to work at Hotspur Way. He even added that the squad may stay over at the training centre for a couple of days.

Mourinho said (Football London): “No. The players are going to have a little bit of time which they need and deserve. After that we are going to work here and that will be an important period for us. It is before the Champions League, before the last part of the league, but we are not going to go away. To have better facilities than we have is impossible, we will not find that anywhere.

“We just hope the weather is OK, not phenomenal but OK and if that is the case we have fantastic conditions to work. We can even decide to stay in here and sleep here and stay here together for a couple of days. We can do that and we probably will.”
