Mourinho shares verdict on Bale’s performance against LASK

Jose Mourinho claimed that Gareth Bale showed a lot of positive signs with his performance against LASK but admitted that there were also things that the Welshman needed to improve on.

Bale started the game alongside Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura upfront, and on paper, the attack looked like it possessed the pace and the quality to rip the LASK defence to shreds, especially given the high line that the home side were playing.

However, Tottenham lacked a cutting edge in attack, with their decision making in the final third often letting them down.

Bale did have some promising moments as he showed brilliant feet on a couple of occasions to wriggle away from tight spots and he did get on the scoresheet, managing to convert a spot-kick in first-half stoppage time.

However, the wide man’s final ball let him down on a couple of occasions, most notably when he was through on goal and gave the ball away looking to square the ball to Son for a tap-in.

When asked about his performance, Mourinho told Football.London: “I took him out 10-15 minutes before the end to save the last couple of runs.

“He has lots of positive things in his game and of course you can see that there are little bits that he has to improve.”
