Mourinho speaks out on whether Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius can play together

Tottenham Hotspur finally plugged their striker shaped hole in the summer transfer window as they brought in Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica.

With Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen leaving the club back in 2019, Spurs played the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign with just one senior striker in Harry Kane.

This season, Vinicius has largely been used in the Europa League and domestic cup competitions, allowing Mourinho to hand Harry Kane some extra rest.

Vinicius scored three and assisted another three in the Europa League, while netting his first Tottenham hat-trick against Marine in the FA Cup third round (TransferMarkt).

However, so far the Brazilian has only been handed a total of 158 minutes across six games in the Premier League.

Spurs fans are also yet to see Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius starting up front together for a significant period of time, although Jose Mourinho has now claimed that he thinks this could be a possibility thanks to their differing styles.

He said (Football London): “Yes I think they can. It’s not a situation that’s happening for different reasons but I think they can. They’re completely different players.”
