Mourinho on Tottenham’s chances of beating RB Leipzig in the second leg

Tottenham Hotspur can still progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season, but they face an uphill battle to do so.

The Lilywhites lost 1-0 in their first leg tie against RB Leipzig in North London last night, handing the visitors a precious away goal.

Timo Werner converted a penalty after Ben Davies committed a brainless foul in the box in the second half.

However, many Spurs fans will remember that the Lilywhites went 1-0 down to Ajax in the semi-final after the first home leg last season.

We all know what happened in the second leg, even when Tottenham went 3-0 down on aggregate.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping for a similar, if not as dramatic, comeback from his side in three weeks, although he may have to mastermind it without a striker.

The Special One was keen to remind people that it is only 1-0 and that his side would not be the first to overturn such a result.

He said (Football London): “1-0 is 1-0, it’s not 10-0. The result is open. It’s as simple as that. We won’t be the first team to lose 1-0 at home and win the tie away.”
