Mourinho’s response when asked if Dele is injured

Tottenham head Jose Mourinho has said that he is hopeful Dele Alli will be fit for the clash against Norwich City.

The lilywhites will take to the field at Carrow Road tomorrow less than forty eight hours after they overcame Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Alli was one of Tottenham’s best players on Thursday and got the all-important winner with a brilliantly taken volley.

The England midfielder has been in fantastic form since Mourinho arrived at the club and has started almost every single game.

Just like the other Spurs stars, the 23-year-old worked his socks off to ensure Spurs held on to their lead and walked home with the three points on Thursday. He looked to be moving gingerly towards the end of the game which seemed to suggest that he might have picked up an injury.

Speaking after the win over Brighton, Mourinho insisted he wasn’t aware of the nature or extent of the injury.

The Spurs boss told Football.London, “I didn’t speak to Dele (about the injury). I don’t know. It was the same the other day with Moussa [Sissoko], cramp, fatigue.

“I want to believe that, but at the same time Dele is a guy that last couple of seasons had some hamstring problems, so I don’t know. I hope that it’s nothing.”

Even if he was just suffering from cramp or fatigue on Friday, perhaps it would make sense to start him on the bench against Norwich. We can afford to start with one or either of Eriksen and Lo Celso and bring Alli on in case we need him. We can’t risk losing him to another injury.
