Mousa Dembele reveals why his teammates make fun of his Spurs connection

Belgian midfielder, Mousa Dembele, was a firm fan favourite in North London ever since he joined from Fulham back in 2012.

Dembele ended up playing seven seasons at White Hart Lane, clocking up 250 appearances and ten goals in his time at the club (Spurs official).

His effortless ballerina-style footwork, mixed with his natural power and drive, quickly made him one of the most beloved players in the squad.

However, after a number of injury problems, Dembele decided to call it quits in January of this year, when he transferred to the Chinese Super League.

Dembele was sold to Guangzhou R&F for around £11m in the January transfer window and has been a big hit in China so far (BBC).

However, the Belgian has now revealed that his new teammates teased him for leaving Spurs just as they reached the Champions League final.

Dembele insists that he never has any regrets with his decisions though and that everyone at Tottenham deserved that achievement.

He said (BBC): “When I came to the club they were all laughing.

“But people who know me know I never regret my choices. It’s a shame for me but I didn’t regret it for one second.

“I was very happy for Tottenham because they deserved it and no-one works harder than them. As players, they are very good guys so you want them to succeed.”
