Tottenham parted ways with Mousa Dembele in January as the midfielder moved to Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F in a £10 million deal after six and a half years at the club.
The Belgian was a great servant to Tottenham and was a crucial part of Pochettino’s revolution, playing a pivotal role in Tottenham’s recent title challenges.
While the 31-year-old dominated several opposition midfielders during his time at the club, there were doubts about whether his body could continue to cope with the rigors of Premier League football.
The former Spurs man opened his account for his new club against Tianjin Teda yesterday with a blistering left-foot strike.
While some Spurs fans were surprised to see Dembele shoot, others rued the fact that the club let him go in January.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to the goal:
Wait… what? Mousa shoots and scores ?

Did Mousa think he was passing to a teammate behind the goal? ? Great to see him in action, So wished he could have been walking out either Saturday or Wednesday – could fit in with either squad. #ForeverSpurs #SpursLegend

I didn’t care about his goal scoring ability, he was a rock and without him we may well finish out of the CL. Needed to replace a player do influential to that midfield but hey we have a nice new stadium
